Part i: testing
test 1
Fortunately, our group had a serious excess of pegboard which we could use for testing. To determine what height pegboard would be most functional for our design, we created boards of three potential heights; 9, 11, and 13 inches, and measured how many pounds of materials we could attach to the pegboard before it started to bend/lean forward.
Considering that the pegboard will never have to hold more that about 6 lbs of supplies, we can conclude that any of these heights will efficiently hold the attachable features. We went with a height of 11 inches because we felt that it gives the consumer enough room to attach what he/she wants without making the Deskinizer cumbersome to carry and aesthetically unappealing.
test 2
To determine whether our product effectively prevents excess time spent searching for papers, we had four participants search for nine specific documents and supplies as we timed them as they looked for each object. Participants took this test once when presented a cluttered desk with papers/supplied scattered everywhere and once when presented a Deskinizer that had all supplies in their appropriate places.
Our testing shows that our product is overwhelmingly effective. The average participant found objects about 12.5 times as quickly when the Deskinizer was present.
